Cancelling, renewals and refunds

What you're agreeing to when you start a plan, how it renews, and how to stop it. Written plainly because the rules in both countries we sell into require it to be clear before you pay, not buried afterwards.

The free trial

Plans start with a 14-day free trial. We take your card details at the start so the plan can continue without interruption, but we do not charge anything during the trial.

If you cancel before the trial ends, you are not charged at all. There is nothing to claim back and no form to fill in — cancelling is enough.

How renewals work

Plans renew automatically. That is how the subscription works, and we would rather say so here than have you discover it on a statement:

Before an annual plan renews, we email you at least 7 days beforehand with the amount and the date. You can cancel in that window and not be charged.

How to cancel

Sign in and go to Account → Billing, then choose Cancel plan. It takes one click and does not require you to contact us, phone anyone, or explain yourself.

You can also email [email protected] and we will do it for you.

Cancelling stops the next charge. Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for — we do not cut you off the moment you cancel.

Refunds

If you are in the UK or the EU and bought as a consumer rather than for a business, you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of buying and get your money back. Two things worth knowing:

What we actually do: if you are within 14 days of your first charge and Yibbit is not for you, email us and we will refund it in full. Consumer or business, UK or US. We would rather refund you than have you feel stuck, and arguing about which rule applies costs more than the money does.

Beyond that window we do not usually refund part-used periods, because the work Yibbit does for you — searches, lookups, audits — costs us money as it happens and cannot be returned. If something went genuinely wrong, tell us and we will sort it out.

If something was bought without your say-so

If a plan was bought on your card without your authority — including by software or an assistant acting without permission — tell us and we will cancel it and refund it in full. We would rather do that than have you go through your bank. See the automated agents section of our terms.

If we cancel or hold your account

We may hold a new account while we check it, and we may decline one. If we hold an account you have paid for and then decline it, we refund you in full within 14 days of the decision.

If we close a paid account for breaking the acceptable use rules, we refund any period you have paid for but not yet used.

Failed payments

If a card fails, our payment processor retries it over a few days and emails you. If it still fails, the plan pauses rather than running up a debt. Your data stays put — fix the card and it picks up where it left off.
